Intruder arrested at Newfane Hospital.  A man, believed to be from Erie County, was caught entering and going through patient rooms at Newfane Hospital Tuesday afternoon, 12/6.  Authorities say the suspect went into one room and started to go through a patient's purse.  The patient was alarmed and she called for help as the intruder fled.  Two maintenance men captured the suspect and held him for Sheriff's Deputies.  While he was being held it was found that the car he arrived in, out in the hospital parking lot, had been reported stolen.  (12/7/05)

Ye Olde Log Cabin ---  1940's At Olcott

This cabin was built in Krull Park by the "Pioneer Association."   It was dedicated August 8,1888. Descendants of various of the pioneers from the area each brought a log or logs for the construction and each had his name on the end of the log to commemorate the appropriate pioneer.

Olcott Cabin.jpg (101105 bytes)The Pioneer Association was a very important body for many years with Pioneer days being a social event not to miss during the summer in Olcott.   People would come from far and wide arriving by International Railway Company trolly for the event.  The cabin survived until maybe 1960.  Many of the logs became rotted and the Pioneer Association itself had become history, so this historic little building was simply torn down. ---Submitted by Peter Buckholtz.
