This is the city. An updated photo of Lockport Today as taken from Niagara Air Recon with pilot-photographer, Dick Gallagher. Take your time scanning over Lockport's Center City and see how many of the sights you can recognize. A total of five bridges over the canal. The "Upside down Railroad Bridge" has the engines and passenger cars of the Niagara & Western New York Railroad going over it. The camera is looking East, Northeast.

Among the other sites to spot:
On the west section (bottom of picture) a small part of the Municipal Building, a part of the Big Bridge, and the Richmond Avenue block now under clean-up.
In the center section of the picture: The (barren) South Block, the Locks, the municipal parking ramp, the vacant F&M Bank Building and the soon-to-be-vacant former Sears Department Store, the site of Lockport's last supermarket, and the Urban Park Towers subsidized housing unit that replaced taxable commercial property along Main Street --- one of the biggest mistakes of Urban Renewal.
Our thanks to Dick Gallagher at Niagara Air Recon (Telephone 716-434-7612) for the updated photo...and more to come!
