Votes With His Camera At The 2003 Main Street Craft Show
He took the long walk three times from Washburn Street to The Big Bridge along Main and East Avenue reviewing hundreds of vendor exhibits in the Lockport Outdoor Craft Show, June 28-29th in downtown Center City. With only a couple breaks for food and drink, here are the vendors selected this year as Best of Show. Considerations were based on 1) Quality of Product 2) Unique Nature of Items 3) Photo Attractiveness.
"All A Board Memories" has a great idea! We've seen some bulletin boards like this sold nationally for five times the items priced here. Why must a bulletin board always be cork or a plain generic color? Why must stick pins be used? These are works of art, practical, and modestly priced! Thanks for coming to Lockport!
Our photographer was, quite frankly, afraid to go closer. He used the zoom lens to capture these iron savages ready to bring their culture to sweet little Lockport. All under $10.
Amazing what can be done with a little bit of wire and steel. There are hundreds of items that depict various occupations, pleasures, and vocations. The exhibit wins #3 rank in the show but our photographer doesn't match it. He should have zoomed in on just a couple for detail rather than trying to capture an overview. Sorry. Hope they'll be back next year so you can see them close-up.
Amazing the conversation-starters that can be produced with an old beer or pop bottle! And a lot of talent! These distorted glass bottles were fashioned (by heating) into a variety of characters with additional touches added. Our photographer says he "thinks" he can do the glasswork but knows he can't put together the package. What are they good for? Well, not much except as a conversation starter but they sure must be fun to make!
This master craftsman is making popcorn! The ingredients are poured into the the big kettle he is seen stirring and when done just flipped into the awaiting storage vessel. Sold by the bag, big bag, and big boxes. It tastes great, too! Samples were available on site. We appreciate folks like this coming to Lockport to show us something just a little off the beaten path!
