Another picture opportunity such as this won't be available until well into 2001. Our Lockport Page Photographer stopped along the bridge over Route 429 at Pekin to look north a few weeks ago. Route 429 moves in a somewhat straight line from Pekin north to US Route 104, barely discernable about 2 miles down the highway in the frame below. Further north, the green space is the remainder of the northern part of Cambria, then the town of Wilson...and then Lake Ontario. There was too much haze on this day see any features across the lake in Canada. Just a bit to the west (left in the picture) of this observation point, is the famous Schimschack's Restaurant with the dining room that looks out over the escarpment.
