Back when
"Academy" meant something upper level in education, St. Joseph's Academy
operated next to St. Patrick's Church on Church Street (at Ontario) The school and a
convent for nuns is shown in the frame at left with St. Patrick's in the background. The
Spires subsidized housing tower is there today.
St. Joseph's was a Catholic High School for girls in Lockport that continued until sometime around the turn into the 60's when the girls were combined with the boys out at DeSales.
Things were more busy on the "Catholic Block" back in the middle of the 20th century than they are today. Thanks to Charlene Bower for the picture!
