Northern Canadian Station.jpg (79175 bytes)Northwest Territory and Yucon military station.  Recreated in an exhibit at the Canadian Military Communications And Electronics Museum at Kingston, Ontario.

The museum has many exhibits such as this showing radio (HF, VHF, Satellite), wire, computer, and coded communications used by the military from 1867 to present.

In this situation a CW radio link was this lonely Artic's only link to the outside world.  Telephone circuits were local only.

Year 2005

Monthly Pow-Wow Luncheons At Brennan's Bowery Bar, Rt 78, Clarence.  12 Noon the second Saturday of every month.

Saturday, November 12, 2005:   Nationwide CW Nets & Other Radio Operations of the US Border Patrol.

W2EWT WA2ARA.jpg (70454 bytes)Two long-time Chapter #65 members, both now retired from radio operations of the US Border patrol have some interesting stories to tell about radio operations that carried on for over 50 years.  Bill Hope, W2EWT, pictured left in the photo, and Larry Rybacki, WA2ARA will combine stories of their many years with the Border Patrol's radio operations as the program for our November meeting.  Secret messages via moderate speed CW on HF and encrypted messages via satellite...these guys will tell it all because they've seen it all.  Although based in Buffalo, both have done tours of duty all over the USA.  Our program will have everything from great tales in the Border Patrol Radio History Book...to state-of-the-art radio operations going on now here along the Niagara Frontier.

PLEASE...because of the nature of this report to members in November, please...NO enemy agents, smugglers, or illegals as guests at this meeting!

Annual Meeting, Saturday December 10th.  In addition to all the business of our Annual Meeting, we'll take time out for Christmas time fun and frolic.  Location is the same as all other meetings:  Brennan's Bowery Bar, Rt 48, Transit Road at Main in Clarence (East-Side suburban Buffalo).
