Martin Brant, 37, 10/15 off Rose Road in the town of Batavia. Authorities report he apparently set his car on fire while parked on a country lane early Wednesday morning. A longtime employee of the Tops Supermarket chain, he was most recently Meat Department Manager at Grand Island. He is survived by a wife and daughter in Lockport, his parents, and five siblings.

Jack A. Dayfer, 57, 10/9. While on shoulder of Lockport Road between Campbell Blvd and Bear Ridge Road. Killed when the steamroller he was operating overturned into a ditch and pinned him underneath. Owner of Dayfert's Collision and Painting.

Cyril "Cy" Roberts, 87, 8/31 at ICH/Newfane. Retired barber but best (and widely) known as musician since the 40's. Had regular radio show on WUSJ (Cy Roberts and The Troubadours), headed "Cy Robert's House Party" with country music in the 50's thru 60's, but also sang and performed pop, Latin, standards, and Hawaiian. Formed "CC's of Meoldy" in 1972. During summer 1997, honored at outdoor band concert at Olcott.
