Summit_St_Cemetery_062.jpg (173857 bytes)Civil War Burials

Mount Calvary Cemetery is located on the south side of Summit Street in Lockport, across from the Lockport City Water Treatment Plant.

This long-neglected, largely Civil War era burial grounds, is now under the trusteeship of St. John's Roman Catholic Church.  The church has recently been making efforts to restore the grounds and, where practical, make some re-setting to the head stones.  The cemetery was first established in 1845.

Few burials have been made here in the past half century.  Those who would like to make a donation to help restore this part of Lockport history,  may contact St. John's Church, on Chestnut Street, in Lockport.
