Through the years, over 40,000 aircraft have been manufactured here on the Niagara Frontier which once was the home of the world's largest aircraft plant, Curtiss Consolidated (in Buffalo).  Bell Aerospace off Niagara Falls Blvd in the town of Wheatfield here in Niagara County was a huge manufacturing and aero research operation which helped this area prosper until a series of union strikes and violence in the early 1950's encouraged the company to think about moving out.  It took many years but that's what they did.  The buildings are still here, the jobs are gone.  Many of the Curtiss and Bell aero products from the past have been collected for display in the Niagara Aerospace Museum.

The museum details parts of the history of many companies from the Niagara Frontier that were associated the aircraft and aerospace industry.  Included, beside Bell and Curtiss, are Fleet, Consolidated, Curtiss-Wright, Cornell Aeronautical Labs, Scott, Calspan, Twin Industries, and Moog.  Items displayed include aircraft, engines, models, photos, films, and other authentic artifacts.
